Girl Scout Troop 2028 is hosting a Pet Adoption Fair on Saturday October 30th from 10am-2pm at the Sandersville Elementary parking lot in Lexington. They will have music, games, food, kona ice and we will have adoptable animals! This event will be a lot of fun! Come support the Scott County Humane Society and Girl Scout Troop 2028!

Light to Remember

This is a season to celebrate family and friends and to honor those special people and pets in our lives as well as remember those loved ones who are no longer with us. Everyone can participate by purchasing a Tribute Light in honor or memory of a loved one or beloved pet with all proceeds supporting our efforts to rescue homeless animals in Scott County. All honorees and memorials will be listed on our website, Facebook and Instagram Accounts and a special tree lighting ceremony where honorees will be recognized will take place on Facebook Live Wednesday, December 1 at 1:00 Lights must be purchased by November 26th. Scott County Humane Society will be auctioning one bottle of George T. Stagg Jr. Batch 15 Bourbon(131.1 Proof) and one bottle of Elmer T. Lee Sour Mash Bourbon (90 Proof) donated by Maime's Fine Wine and Gifts. All tickets are $5 each and there will be 2 separate drawings for each bottle so two chances to win! The drawing will be held at 2pm December 23, 2021 at Maime's Fine Wine & Gifts. Raffle tickets can be purchased at either Scott County Humane Society or Maime's Fine Wine & Gifts, 139 W. Come have you, your family and/or your pets pictures taken with/without Santa Claus for only $10 and support your local humane society. The $10 includes a 4x6 or 6x4 photo. We will also have the option to purchase a USB for $20 which you can choose instead of the printed photo or you can choose both. Several changes to our Santa Paws event! 1. This year we will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! You must pre-sign up and pay by Dec 3th or Dec 10th. We may have openings for call in appointments but times may vary. 2. You will wait in your car for our "elf" to bring you inside, you MUST wear a mask inside (children 5 and under do not have to), you will be able to take mask off during photo. You will then wait in your car for your photo or USB to be ready. Photos are quick, USB will take about 20 min or you can pick it up another day. 3. We will not have a bake sale this year, we may have baskets available for purchase on site or may do preorders. 4. Our staff will be limited to best accommodate the event this year, we will not send out volunteer signups. 5. You can choose to have Santa in your photo or you can choose no Santa. This may change depending on COVID, we will have NO children in Santas lap. Santa will be able to hold your pet if you would like. Information is subject to change as we get closer to the event but we wanted to start putting the information out there for planning purposes. Check back for booking information on November 15th.

Blessing of the Animals/ Pet Parade

Every year we have a pet parade with a Blessing of the Animals ceremony by the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (South Broadway/W Clinton). The Blessing of the Animals will start at 130pm snacks and drinks will be available there. We will then line up on the street next to the church and walk up town for the Pet Parade. Both events are FREE and we would love to have you join us! Check back closer to the event for a chance to win a free Humane Society t-shirt! ALL ANIMALS MUST BE ON A LEASH, IN STROLLER OR ANOTHER SAFE WAY! ANY SPECIES ANIMAL MAY JOIN US JUST MAKE SURE THEY ARE ANIMAL AND PEOPLE FRIENDLY!
