Why volunteer?
Each person may have a different reason: some want to learn new skills, some want to experience working with animals, some simply enjoy the opportunity to spend time with new people and new pets. What all of our volunteers have in common is a love for animals and a desire to help them – and we couldn’t do what we do without their help. We are 100% volunteer run.
There is an age requirement to volunteer at Scott County Humane Society: volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
If you are under 16 years old look below for an enrichment activity to give to our animals.
Volunteers must commit to an average of 4 hours a month for 4 months.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteer opportunities are many and varied, from hands-on activities like cleaning and socializing, to behind-the-scenes activities like pet photography and event decorating. Many of our events require volunteers in a variety of roles. Once you apply to be a volunteer, you’ll be part of an animal rescue organization with proven results. We need you! f you have an idea about how to volunteer that isn’t on the list, we will be happy to hear it!

When there are no visits to be conducted, volunteers may socialize the animals.
