Katie is about 6-7 months old (as of 1/2/2012) and was born with a facial deformity called a hairlip (akin to a cleft palate in humans). While surgery to repair this would have been possible for her when she was much younger, it is no longer something a surgeon can repair at her age. Katie has no special medical needs, but because she looks different, it is important that her forever home keep her inside and always away from people who may do her harm because of how she looks. Katie herself pays no mind to how she looks - she is just glad when she was picked up as a stray the shelter fell in love with her and that she was able to enter our foster program. She is a little worried that an adopter will look away because of her quirky little face, but she is a 100% normal kitty in every way imaginable! She eats and drinks normally, and sure knows how to purr and play with toys. Katie she loves to wind around your legs in welcoming you home from work or in inviting guests into your home... just spins and weaves! She is very playful with toys and other kitties at her foster home and she would love to have a kitty friend at her new home with whom she can play and romp around with, and cuddle with. She adapts great to other kitties at her foster home and should do very well with a nice dog too. Shy for the first few days at most, she soon is making herself right at home. Katie loves to be a lap kitty and will sit on your lap for a head petting and chin rubs. She gets along fine with kids and will make a lovely companion and interactive pet for a family. At bedtime Katie wants to be with you, curled up by your side. She is super sweet and very friendly and affectionate, and Katie would love to have a home for the holidays.
