Meet Velma! She is a 3-4 year old female Papillon/Chihuahua mix who weighs just about 10lbs (as of 6/7). I was turned into the shelter as my previous home had too many dogs—so not because of any fault of my own. Velma is doing great with crate training. She is working on house training but hasn’t learned to tell her foster mom when she needs to go out. Velma is great with other dogs but does not do well with cats. Velma has been through a lot and she shows it through her “timidness”. Velma needs a home that will give her the time and patience she needs to warm up and learn to trust them. When you first approach her she tends to freeze. And while she is timid, she wants to be near you and doesn’t like to be left alone. She is great inside the house and likes to sit near her foster family. With some time and patience, we believe she will become a great companion and will soon learn to love being a lap dog! Velma would not do well in a home with children. She is great on a leash and will go walking with you. Please consider giving Velma a home where she can blossom into the dog we know she can be!
